Build Your Own Solar Panels

Friday, February 20, 2009

As we progress well into the 21st. Century, I'm a bit surprised that we're still stuck in our antiquated methods of generating electricity. Oil was okay for the first few decades after it was discovered, but as better technologies came about they should have been developed more.

Being almost 100% dependent on foreign oil is no place the most powerful country in the world should find itself...yet here we are. Part of 2008 drove home the reality that we are putting our futures, our very livelihoods and even our lives in the hands of the oil producing countries...most of whom don't really like us in the first place.

To see where the United States is on energy is sad. We've had solar technologies for several decades now, but it's just in the last few years that it's really started to be developed as it should. The sun alone could provide enough power for every country on the face of the Earth, but we've been lax in getting the technology to where it should be. With global warming so real, and finally recognized by even the ones, that for years said there was no global warming, we need to develop solar, wind and the other 'green' technologies that will put us in the 21st. Century, not just in numbers, but also in our energy production.

Many people believe that solar power systems are financially out of their reach. To purchase a commercial system for your home, it is very expensive. However, almost anyone can start their own, homebuilt alternative. With nothing more than common tools, and common sense, anyone can build their own solar panels. They might not look like they just came from a factory, but the bottom line is, they work just fine and will produce the electricity that most have to pay handsomely for.

If we all do our parts in turning things around we can make the Earth a place that our children will be happy to inherit. If things continue on the present course, there may not be anyone left to take it over. Global warming is very real, if we don't change things in a dramatic fashion in the next 10 years or so, it will too late.

Just by building a few solar panels over the weekend in your basement or garage, you can not only do your part to halt global warming, but you can also save most of what you've been paying your local utility company.

Should you decide to build enough panels, you can totally eliminate your monthly electric bill and even have the utility company paying you for any surplus electricity that you generate. Please do the responsible thing, your part as a citizen of the planet. It requires very little effort and less than $200 to build a single solar panel that can generate electricity for many decades to come. Start building your own easily-built solar power generator today.
