Beating Them in Their Own Game - Fighting Gamer Stereotypes

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Even though there's a revolution over gamers' profiles during this last decade, people still highly regard gamers are kids stuffed in their parents' basement, without any friends, and definitely lazing off to earn their degrees on BA Couch Potato. If you're tired of being that gamer, then it may be time to start looking into other consoles.

The Xbox 360 and the PS3, for all their amazing gameplays and graphics, still require you to sit on your couch and pressing buttons. We're not telling you to throw those away-of course not, they're precious and you'll always want to go back to them. Still, it may be wise to invest on getting the latest Nintendo Wii.

Wii is one of the latest ideas by Shigeru Miyamoto, game designer of the Family Computer fame. Instead of letting you be one with your couch, Wii gives you another controller that calculates your movements, letting them reflect on the screen. Requiring actual movement where you move budge your arms and legs gives you the chance to get into the gaming funk. If your friends are still complaining, then haul in the big guns: Wii Fit. Wii Fit helps you keep track of your weight through serious exercising. One of the games lets you do yoga, with calculations being based on the changes of your center of gravity. Most of all, you can play the games with your health-freak friends. You can also try out Nintendo's handheld console, DS, which lets you move from place to place while still beating out high scores.

Get into the moves with Wii or Wii Fit and reap the benefits of fighting gamer stereotype. The world is changing everyday, and even gamers have to know how to get into the groove and move along with it.
